Fender Studio Pro's Studio Assistant: what it knows about your session

Studio One is now Fender Studio Pro. What the 8.1 Studio Assistant answers, which session details it can see, and what to use if you want an assistant that edits.

By monody4 min read

The short answer. Fender Studio Pro is Studio One under its new name. Version 8.1 added a Studio Assistant that answers questions about the software and gives technical direction, using a small amount of session context. Fender and PreSonus describe it as a help tool in public beta, not as an assistant that writes parts or edits your arrangement. Read the table below to match the kind of help you want to the tool that does it.

Searching "Studio One AI" now brings up two names for one product, and a handful of AI features that do different jobs. This guide covers the product's name, what Fender and PreSonus say the Studio Assistant does, and which kind of assistant to look at if you want something else. We have not run Studio Assistant, so everything about it is what the makers publish, as of 4 October 2026.

The name

PreSonus's Studio One Pro became Fender Studio Pro in January 2026. PreSonus's support site now hosts Fender Studio Pro articles, such as redeeming a previous Studio One registration. If you find a Studio One tip, the menus are usually the same ideas under the new name, but check the installed Reference Manual (Help, Studio Pro Reference Manual) before you rely on it.

What Fender and PreSonus say it does

  • Answers and direction. Fender's 8.1 announcement of 9 June 2026 says the assistant is "designed to help answer questions instantly without breaking workflow" and "brings documentation, tutorials and support into one place". It is available as a public beta for Fender Studio Pro+ users.
  • Support articles. PreSonus's article Studio Assistant in Fender Studio Pro 8.1 and Higher describes questions about features, workflows and troubleshooting, answered from the documentation and knowledge base. It can be opened from the toolbar or as a docked or floating panel.
  • Session context. To make troubleshooting answers more relevant, it receives limited, non-creative session details: document type, audio device and connected external devices, sample rate, tempo, time and key signature, track count and basic information about the selected track.
  • Privacy. PreSonus says conversations are not used to train or improve AI models and that the assistant talks to PreSonus servers only when you ask it something.

We read PreSonus's article through search results because the page itself blocked our automated fetch, so check it directly before you quote it.

What the published descriptions do not say

Nothing in Fender's announcement or PreSonus's article, as we read them, describes the assistant writing notes, changing mixer settings or reorganizing a session. That is not proof it can't. It means the makers haven't claimed it, so a claim like "Studio Pro's assistant edits your project" isn't supported by what we can cite. If that changes, the PreSonus article is the place it will show up first.

Which kind of help do you want?

You want Look at What the maker describes

Pull a vocal or drums out of a finished mix The Moises Studio integration Fender says 8.1 users get 10 audio stem separations, 120 stem generations and five voice conversions a month at no extra cost, as announced
An assistant that changes a project after you approve FL Studio's Gopher Controls a listed set of mixer, channel and plugin settings, and writes Piano roll scripts, after an Approve or Deny prompt
An assistant that writes MIDI and runs macros in the DAW Waveform 14's AI Assistant A chat panel that can create MIDI sequences, macros and shortcuts using your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, per its manual
Backing parts that follow your chords Logic Pro's Session Players Drummer, Bass Player and Keyboard Player, with Synth Player styles
An assistant that edits notes, sounds and mix in its own DAW monody Writes notes, devices and automation into a monody session and marks every change

The table matches jobs to tools. It does not rank them, and we have not compared how well any of them works.

Questions that suit a help assistant

The PreSonus article's own examples are how-to questions. These are the same kind:

  • How do I automate volume on one track?
  • How do I bounce or export this project, and in which format?
  • Why does my audio interface not appear in the device list?
  • What is the difference between a bus and a group in this DAW?

Check any answer against the Reference Manual or the on-screen menu. An assistant that explains a menu that has moved between versions can be wrong, and that is true of every help assistant, not only this one.

Taking work in and out of Studio Pro

If you want to try a part from another DAW, MIDI files and WAV stems work across all of them. Move MIDI and stems between DAWs has the steps. For whole-project exchange, Bitwig's FAQ listed Studio One 6.5 as supporting DAWproject in November 2024, with File, Convert To, DAWproject File as the export path. Fender Studio Pro 8 may differ, so check its manual and read DAWproject, MIDI and stems before you plan a hand-off.
